On Wednesday 25th<\/sup> January we had Mathematics reasoning morning. This is our Mathematics focus this year! All classes had a whole morning involving problem solving and reasoning activities where the children had to use skills and explain their answers.\u00a0Year 4 then joined Year 5 and 6, Year 3 joined Year 1 and 2 to buddy up and share their exciting learning. The children really enjoyed themselves and evaluated the morning the next day.<\/p>\n

Here are some comments from the children:<\/p>\n

Year 1 and 2 \u2013 Addition and Subtraction reasoning questions<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe learnt how to solve some problem solving questions.\u201d Lola Y2<\/p>\n

\u201cWe worked out the answers to problems with addition and subtraction.\u201d Daisy Y1<\/p>\n

\u201cI liked seeing Matthew\u2019s work he did on fractions.\u201d Louie Y1<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed it. Please can we have a whole year of just Maths?!\u201d Oscar Y2<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Year 3 and 4 \u2013 Fractions problem solving<\/h3>\n

\u201cI enjoyed looking for patterns in fractions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed working with others to solve problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed sharing my work with other year groups.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Year 5 and 6 \u2013 Murder Mystery Mathematics Problem Solving<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe were detective and we had to find out the answers to questions.\u201d Eve Y6<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed breaking the clues down to find the real culprit of the murder.\u201d Emma Y6<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was fun because it was really hard game and mystery to solve.\u201d Coen Year 5<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
