\u2018How do you know?\u2019 said the old oak tree,<\/em><\/p>\n \u2018Because I saw a daffodil,<\/em><\/p>\n Dancing with the fairies on the windy hill\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n They saw a bumblebee and a butterfly in the spring sunshine as they had finished singing!<\/p>\n They then all played a game of \u2018Owl Eyes\u2019, hiding very effectively in the reeds in the meadow.<\/p>\n The class also played a game of \u2018Spirit of the Forest\u2019. They transformed into animals of the forest and had to run through the \u2018trees\u2019 without getting caught. It is great to notice their growing knowledge of woodland trees and animals and hearing them talk about how they live in the woods. The Impact of Forest School for the children is the knowledge the children have gained from the Forest School experience.<\/p>\n The impact can be seen through the skills, tools used, art and craft activities, observations and knowledge of the fruit, plants trees in relation to the seasons and the skills involved in learning how to play Forest School games.<\/p>\n All the class held a twig of willow with its soft catkins, which we cut from a tree which had fallen in the recent storm.<\/p>\n The stream was a draw as some children set about adapting digging a dam they had made previously.<\/p>\n There was some under log exploring, and the children tried to identify what they had found by looking in reference books.<\/p>\n Some children continued their skills with using tools, and carefully made some spears out of freshly cur hazel, using peelers.<\/p>\n There was also time for some swinging and hanging out in the hammock in the glorious spring sunshine.<\/p>\n
