<\/a><\/p>\nIn Maple class we have been sharing the book, \u2018This is Our House\u2019 by Michael Rosen and thinking about the fact that George is a bully and stops other children from sharing the playhouse. We have thought about what bullying means and what we should do if we feel someone is being unkind to us. We have learned that it is important to tell someone if they are hurting our feelings or our bodies and that we should always tell a grown up.<\/p>\n
Finally, we have played some inclusive games, making sure everyone is joining in and feels welcome. We played Duck, Duck, Goose and \u2018What is the time, Mr Wolf?<\/p>\n
In Cherry Class, we discussed how we are all different what we like about each other. We enjoyed watching \u2018Andy and the Odd Socks\u2019, who are the patrons of the Anti-Bullying Alliance, perform some fun songs with important messages about how we can be kind to each other. We discussed the importance of speaking about bullying to someone who can help. Working in pairs, we created a pair of socks knowing that each of our designs would be different and that\u2019s okay!<\/p>\n
In Willow Class, we took the opportunity to talk about how we can \u2018Reach Out\u2019 to others if we are being bullied and who that person might be. The class enjoyed sharing whom they would trust. To demonstrate the importance of everyone joining together to beat bullying we created a paper chain to show the impact we can have if \u2018We challenge it, We can change it\u2019. The children then thought about ways in which they can make a difference to create a kind and caring environment. We shared these as a class before recording them.<\/p>\n
Lilac class also looked at ways in which they could \u2018Reach Out\u2019 to someone who was being bullied. They enjoyed discussing the ways in which we all have a part to play in tackling bullying. They considered the different roles that pupils can take in a bullying scenario and how they have the power to change the situation through their actions and the consequences if they don\u2019t. As ever, they presented a mature and considered response to a sensitive topic.<\/p>\n
