Maple Class visited Forest Row Fire Station this week as part of their topic \u2018Off We Go!\u2019<\/p>\n

They had a go at trying on the protective clothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is really heavy!\u201d\u2026..\u201dThe boots go up to my knees\u201d\u2026.\u201dThe helmet has a torch on it!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The children then went to have a look at the Fire Engine. They got to learn about all of the different equipment and what it was used for. They found out about heat scanners, hoses, cutting machinery, maps, breathing equipment and ladders.<\/p>\n

Each of the children had a go at climbing into the fire engine. It was very high up!<\/p>\n

The children learned about how the truck carries water and how to find a water supply when they are out on a job, by finding a \u2018yellow H\u2019. Then, there was much excitement about using the hoses! The children had a go at spraying the tower and the wall at the back of the fire station.<\/p>\n

Finally, the children walked to the bus stop and took the 291 bus back to school in time for lunch.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a double decker bus\u201d\u2026.\u201dwe sat on the top deck\u201d\u2026. \u201cThis is the best school trip ever!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
