Making our way to Forest School the children in Beech Class were given a pot cream to shake as hard as they could, by doing this they will eventually make butter. With a lot if shaking they achieved making butter, they then had the opportunity to try the butter on a cracker. This was enjoyed by most of the Class with many of them wanting seconds!
Beech Class learnt a new game called keeper of the keys. This is played by the children sitting in a circle with one child guarding a set of keys of the middle. A chosen child then has to sneak in and steal the keys, then run as fast as they can back to their spot in the circle before the keeper catches them. It was great to hear them cheering each other on to run fast.
The children came into the pond area in small groups to have a go at pond dipping to see what may be living in our school pond. They pushed their nests down under the water, moved them about a little before pulling them out to see what they had caught. Everything that was caught was placed into a try so that the children could take a closer look and use an ID sheet to help them identify what they had found. They discovered that they found many newts, dragonfly nymphs and a great diving beetle.
