Willow Forest School

Willow set off to the woods for their last Forest School session of the year, helping to push the trolley over the bumpy ground. Once in the wood we started with a game of eagle eye, they did their best to hide however their Hi Vis vests made them easy to spot!

The children were set the challenge of constructing the most waterproof den they could using tarpaulins and any natural materials they could gather. Getting themselves in small groups they set of to choose the best location for building. One group used the long flat branches of hazel to lay a tarpaulin over creating a very large den. Others went for a tent like den by wedging a long stick between two trees and then throwing a tarpaulin over the top and securing it at the base. Once the den was finished the building party climbed inside their den, water was then thrown over the top. Most of the dens were water tight meaning the children stayed nice and dry, until they left their den!
