Owls Forest School

Owl’s helped to carry all the equipment down for a Forest School session in the woods. Along the way we stopped at the dinosaur tree trying to get the whole class on the tree for a photo, this is a little trickier now that they are all so much bigger. Once in the woods the class were able to set off exploring in their groups.

Many of the class chose to construct base camps hidden within the vegetation of the woods, they worked together to transport logs and longer branches. Many of the bases had good climbing trees within them that the children spent a lot of time climbing.

A couple of the class helped to put up the slack line, they choose a longer gap than usual as they wanted the challenge of a longer walk along the slack line. Only the bottom line was put up, the children had to use two sticks for balance as the made there way along the slack line. A few even tried it with one stick and then no sticks, this was defiantly trickier.

The children used a pestle and mortar to crush up chalk that they then added to some clay-like mud that they had dug up, this created coloured clay that they were able to use to make things with.

Using a tea light the class were able to roast a marshmallow that was then placed between two chocolate biscuits for them to enjoy.
