Choir Update 26th May

Pupils from our school choir were invited to sing in a local fundraiser this month. The event raised funds for St James and St Peter’s Hospice and was held in East Hoathly church. The choir and many others performed across the afternoon and evening, together raising over £5500! A big well done to those who came and performed.

Term 2 Update

Our Choir meets on Friday lunchtimes, we sing a range of songs linked to the time of the year or upcoming events. This term we are practicing christmas songs ready for our local community event Uckfield Late Night Shopping. (photo will follow on Friday)

Stop Crying Your Heart Out

This term, we have been learning ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’ by Oasis. Lots of children have been really brave and had a go at a short solo too! Have a listen…

We are using this song to appeal for support for Save the Children to support Ukrainian families. If you enjoyed our track please consider donating at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/east-hoathly-ce-primary-school

Uckfield Late Night Shopping

A huge thank you to all of the children who attended the Federation Choir’s late night shopping performance in Uckfield on Friday. We took the biggest choir of the night and had the audience joining in and clapping along!

Miss Lewis was extremely proud of all the children! Thank you, too, to the many staff members who came to support the choir.

The performance was broadcast live onto Uckfield FM and you can listen back here:

We received the following message from the organisers of the event:

“Thank you all for the tremendous amount of time and commitment from the staff and pupils both prior to and on the evening.

From my experience, over many years, it was also the highest number of children on stage and also the number of people who were standing in Post Office Square, at least 2500 and more over the evening.

Fortunately, the rain mostly stayed away and it was a relatively warm evening for December. Thank you once again for making Friday night so special.”

Harvest Festival

The East Hoathly school choir had its first outing at the Harvest Festival. We performed The Carpenters’ classic ‘Top of the World’ to rapturous applause. Well done to Freya for being brave and singing a 2 line solo on a microphone for the final chorus.

Choir Update

The individual school choirs have begun rehearsing some new songs – one of which will be performed at the Harvest Festival. We are currently learning ‘Top of the World’ by the Carpenters and ‘Fields of Gold’ by Eva Cassidy. We rehearse one lunchtime each week and welcome children from Year 1-6. After half term, we will begin to practice songs ready for the annual Uckfield Late Night Shopping Event – a joint event between the East Hoathly and Chiddingly choirs which is always a great start to the festive season!

Late Night Uckfield Shopping Event

Well done to all of the children who performed at the Uckfield Late Night Shopping Event on Friday 1st December. The children’s enthusiasm and energy was clear and the staff were so proud of the children’s performance. It was great to see children from both Pioneer schools coming together and looking after each other at the rehearsals earlier in the week and this year we had more children taking part than ever before! Thank you, as well, to the staff, friends and families who came to support the children – I think we had the loudest crowd on the night!

Uckfield Late Night Shopping

Well done to all the children involved in singing with the Federation Choir on Friday evening at the Late Night Shopping Event in Uckfield. The children sang beautifully with lots of smiles and thoroughly entertained the packed audience. All the staff were incredibly proud of the children’s behaviour and voices. Well done!

White Rock Theatre

On Friday 29th May 2016, the Pioneer Federation Choir made up of children from East Hoathly and Chiddingly Schools performed at the White Rock Theatre for the 1066 Choir Competition. The children sang ‘On My Own’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’. They sang beautifully and the audience loved their performances. Even though they were one of the smallest choirs, the audience support was the loudest of the night! A huge well done goes to all the children who worked so hard to produce their amazing performances. Thank you to Miss Lewis for all her hard work with choir and to all the parents for your support and help with transporting the children to and from the event.
