What an exciting week we’ve had in Squirrels Class! We were treated to a very special visit from the firefighters at Uckfield Fire Station—complete with their real fire engine!
Linking to our learning about the Great Fire of London, we explored how firefighting has changed over time. The children loved comparing the modern equipment onboard today’s fire engines to the simple leather buckets and hand pumps used back in 1666.
The highlight of the visit was definitely getting to sit inside the fire engine, seeing all the special kit the firefighters wear to stay safe, and learning how every piece of equipment helps them put out fires. A huge thank you to the Uckfield crew for such a memorable and inspiring hands-on experience!
