Bedes & Community Links

Reading

We are very pleased to be able to welcome students from Bedes 6th form each week to read with our pupils.

Helping the children read is one of the highlights of my week. It is so rewarding and I love our little chats. I hope they enjoy it as much as I do!
I love reading with the children because they are all amazing and I want to help them improve as much as possible!!
To help boost our library and encourage the pupils love of reading, one of the staff members at Bedes has very kindly donated a huge bag of books.

Swimming

We are fortunate enough to be able to use the facilities at Bedes with each class swimming for a term each year.
Their facilities include a 25m pool with 6 lanes.

Coaching

Oaks have really enjoyed their sessions at Bedes.  The children had the opportunity to experience a range of different sports whilst being coached by the Year 12 BTEC Sports Coaching students.

Supporting Charities

Park Mead has a pupil diagnosed with Indolent Systemic Mastocytosis, a very rare Mast Cell Disease. On 14 January 2022 we held a mufti day to raise awareness and much needed funds for the UK Mastocytosis support group.

As a small charity the amount raised will go so far and will be used towards creating parent/school packs to help aid those involved in caring for someone with a Mast Cell Disease. This resource is going to help so many and we cannot thank you all enough.  The charity was astounded by the support from parents and pupils.

Please visit www.ukmasto.org should you wish to learn more about these conditions or support the charity further.
