Collective Worship at St Mary’s
As a Voluntary Aided Church of England school, daily collective worship is at the heart of our school life. It is a time when our whole community comes together to pause, reflect, and explore the Christian faith. Worship is inclusive, invitational, and inspiring – rooted in the teachings of Jesus and the values of the Church of England, while also offering space for personal reflection, whatever a child’s own beliefs.
Through stories, prayer, music, and reflection, children are encouraged to think about their place in the world, to develop spiritually and morally, and to live out our school’s Christian values in everyday life. Worship is central to nurturing our caring, respectful and inclusive community.
| Monday | Whole School Collective Worship – a time to come together as a school, introduce a theme for the week, sing, and pray for the week ahead. |
| Tuesday | Spiritual Journal time – Time for children to explore more deeply the value being taught and to reflect on the story introduced the previous day within children’s own classes. |
| Wednesday | Whole School Collective Worship at the church led by the vicar or the youth leader. |
| Thursday | Whole School Collective Worship. A short reflection about this week’s story is shared by the Church’s Youth leader, this is followed by a time to sing and pray together. |
| Friday | Whole School Collective Worship – a celebration and time of thanksgiving. |
