School Games Mark Award

We are delighted to announce that Park Mead Primary School has achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

  • Reaching the area finals for the cross country School Games.
  • Winning The Active Games Dodgeball Tournament.
  • Participating in a wide variety of Intra and Inter school competitions.
  • Enhancing our leadership roles and responsibilities.
  • Developing our health, fitness and wellbeing through sport, exercise and mindfulness.
  • Increasing SEND children's participation in sport and competitions.

With many young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to all the wonderful, amazing and hard working staff, parents and carers at Park Mead Primary School for their consistent support throughout the academic year to make this possible.

We look forward to applying once again in 2024!

NSEA Schools Jumping Competition

On Friday 30 June Gracie competed at Hickstead in the NSEA schools jumping competition representing Park Mead Primary School.

At age 8 she was one of the youngest there, with children up to the age of 16 competing. She put in a fantastic effort with just a single pile falling at fence number 8 to keep her from the championship.

On 3 July Ellie danced her way to a fantastic 3rd place and a bronze medal in the Global and Folklore Group Dance at the Dance World Cup in Portugal. This result put them 3rd in the world for this genre.

What an amazing achievement, well done Ellie!
