James Procter was appointed as Head at East Hoathly and after a period of rapid improvement, collaborations with other local schools started.

The Pioneer Federation started life as a partnership arrangement between East Hoathly CE Primary and Chiddingly Primary.
November 2015
As a result of the tremendous success of the partnership and the rapid transformation at East Hoathly and Chiddingly, the soft partnership developed to a federation.
September 2017
The Pioneer Federation went into partnership with St Mary’s Hartfield CE Primary.
September 2017
St Mary’s Hartfield joined the Pioneer Federation.

April 2021

The Pioneer Federation went into partnership with Nutley Primary School & Groombridge St Thomas Primary. Read our initial ‘Partnership Letters’.
March 2025
The governing bodies of Nutley Primary and Grooombridge St.Thomas voted to join the federation. The Pioneer Federation for the 6 schools will commence on 1st September 2025. Read our Federation Letter to Parents.
May 2025

March 2026
The governing bodies of Pioneer Federation, Framfield CE Primary School and Stonegate CE Primary School met on 23rd March 2026. At the meeting, in separate votes, they voted to federate. The Pioneer Federation for the 8 schools will commence on 1st September 2026.
